The Maine are set to kick off a string of tour dates in Europe and U.K. this on Wednesday. However, Kirch has shared with fans that he will be sitting out this tour in order to prepare for the arrival of his first child.

Kirch’s longtime friend and Katastro drummer Andrew Stravers will be filling in on the run. The band shared the news with the caption “Update from Pat,” which you can read in full below.

Hello friends!! I wanted to give everyone a life update before The Mirror tour kicks off.

A lot of you already know the exciitng news that I and my wife are expecting our first baby this month! I couldn’t be more excited to meet her and become a Dad, this means that I will be staying home during The Mirror Europe/UK so that I can be around for her birth and enjoy a little time with my family during this exciting time.

I am going to miss playing these songs for you and really going to miss being able to hang out with you guys after the shows, but I know we will be back and probably with some new tunes to play for you.

I have never missed anything so it certainly will feel weird watching videos on Instagram but I know the shows are going to be amazing. My great friend, Andrew Stravers, who I have known since I was 12 years old and plays drums in a great band called Katastro will be filling in for me.

Please give him all the love in the world for me. He is an awesome dude and would love to meet all of you guys! I can’t wait to be back with you all on the next tour and the next 50 years of The Maine. All the love in the world!!! See you guys soon. – Patrick John Kirch
