“Death By Rock and Roll” marks the Pretty Reckless’ first music release since 2016’s Who You Selling For. Following the release of the title track, the band were preparing to embark on their first tour in two years. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, their May tour is now rescheduled for October 2020.

Despite this setback, the Pretty Reckless are continuing to move forward with the release of Death By Rock and Roll. At this time, no release date is set for the band’s fourth studio album. However, it will be released through Fearless Records following the Pretty Reckless’ signing with them in May.

Death By Rock and Roll is set to include various features including Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello and Soundgarden‘s Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron.

Previously, vocalist Taylor Momsen has said that this new album and single mark the beginning of a new chapter for the Pretty Reckless.

“In a lot of ways, this new album feels like a rebirth and our first single, ‘Death By Rock And Roll,’ represents that salvation that my favorite music brings me,” Momsen says. “Rock is freedom and this song is about living life the way you want, and now that belongs to everyone who listens.”

Now, the Pretty Reckless have released a beautiful lyric video for “Death By Rock and Roll.” With art created by artist Lucas David, the lyric video paints beautiful illustrations of Momsen throughout the video.

The lyric video opens up with a reference to Momsen’s Gossip Girl character Jenny Humpheries along with the lyric “Jenny died of suicide with a candle burning in her eye.” The vocalist has previously been outspoken about her Gossip Girl past and addresses it head-on in this new lyric video.

The video also includes visuals depicting Momsen as a zombie, demon, skeleton and more.

The “Death By Rock and Roll” lyric video is available to watch below.

Earlier last month, Momsen shared a moving cover of “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding” performed by Elvis Costello & The Attractions. The performance was part of the recent Fearless At Home livestream.
