This week, The Umbrella Academy finally revealed the new cast members joining the series as The Sparrow Academy.
Back in October, rumors swirled that production for season 3 of The Umbrella Academy was set to begin in February of this year. Finally, in November, Netflix confirmed that these rumors are true and production begins sometime next month.
Shortly following this, showrunner Steve Blackman gave a major clue into what fans can expect from season 3. In late November, Blackman shared an exclusive look at a new TUA script. The first episode of season 3 is called “Meet The Family,” seemingly confirming that that season 2 cliffhanger will be played out in the new episodes.

For those of you that need a refresh, season 2 ended on quite an unforgettable note. As we saw in the season’s final moments, the Hargreeves siblings arrived back in the “present time,” but soon learned that things aren’t what they seem. As it turns out, rather than starting The Umbrella Academy, Sir Reginald Hargreeves went on to create The Sparrow Academy.
Fans got their first glimpse of the new academy as well as the return of Justin H. Min‘s Ben Hargreeves in season 2’s final episode. Now, it looks like it’s finally time to get a proper introduction to the members of The Sparrow Academy.
On Monday, the Netflix series unveiled the new faces joining the show as The Sparrow Academy. To start, No. 1 or Marcus is being portrayed by Justin Cornell. As well, TUA fans will be pleased to see that Justin H. Min‘s Ben Hargreeves is officially back in season 3. This time around, however, he’s returning as No. 2 in The Sparrow Academy.
Britne Oldford is portraying Fei, No. 3, while Jake Epstein is taking on the role of Alphonso, No. 4. Some fans many recognize Epstein for his long on-screen portrayal as the teen heartthrob Craig Manning on Degrassi: The Next Generation.
The Sparrow Academy’s No. 5, Sloane, is being played by Genesis Rodriguez and Cazzie David is Jayme, No. 6. However, The Sparrow Academy’s No. 7 is raising some eyebrows. The final member of the academy is Christopher, an “existential dread-inducing psykronium cube.”

Along with the fresh faces, the original lead cast of The Umbrella Academy is also returning for season 3. Last year, there was some speculation that Elliot Page may not reprise their role as Vanya Hargreeves. However, those rumors were quickly squashed by the streaming service.
The Sparrow Academy is part of the original comics created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba. However, they don’t appear until the end of the third volume. Blackman previously explained why they decided to incorporate The Sparrow Academy into the show early.
“I have a wonderful collaboration with Gerard and we talk a lot about where he wants to go with the different volumes of the comics,” he said. “I had an idea for the end of this season, a little similar to what the Sparrows were. When I heard he was doing the Sparrows, I got super excited.”
At this time, The Umbrella Academy season 3 does not have a release date.
Last year, Alternative Press interviewed Justin H. Min who revealed some secrets about The Sparrow Academy and what’s in store for season 3.
