Here’s what the Word Alive would cover if ‘Punk Goes Country‘ happens
For the past twenty or so years, we’ve been gifted with some of the most unbelievable covers through the Punk Goes series from Fearless Records that has seen bands in metalcore, pop-punk and more take on hip-hop, pop and other genres and The Word Alive‘s Tyler “Telle” Smith wants to spearhead a Punk Goes Country album.
In response to a fan’s tweet, the musician says he is down for the project but only if the band gets to cover Rascal Flatts’ “What Hurts The Most.”

The idea for the album started with entertainment journalist James Shotwell tweeting at Fearless Records about his concept.
Dear @FearlessRecords
Punk Goes Country.
Please and thank you.
Sincerely,
Aging scene kids.

Smith then replied gleefully throwing The Word Alive’s name in the hat to join in.
I’m down if we can do @rascalflatts ?
What Hurts The Most ?????

Fearless Records does point out that the idea has been somewhat done before with Ruston Kelly’s Dirt Emo Vol. 1.
This rocks. Have to give a huge shout out to our @officialconcord fam @RustonKelly who already brought this to life in a different way!https://t.co/H4tExRpAbf

Shotwell later included some choices for bands he would like to see involved and we can’t say we disagree.
Yo @IprevaiI, @augustburnsred, @ICENINEKILLS, @GrayscalePA — what songs can we get you to do?
Outside, Fearless Fam, can we get @SWStheband, @DollSkinBand, @ThisIsAaronWest, and some others to sign up?

The Punk Goes series has seen bands take on covers of metal, pop, Christmas music, classic rock, ’90s era music and plenty more since beginning in the 2000’s. With an album in the series arriving pretty much every year and bands staying at home in isolation right now, there’s no better time to put together a country covers album.
