Read more: What even is going on with the 1975?
If the English quartet have learned one this thus far in 2015, it’s the art of enigmatic teasing. Over the summer, frontman Matty Healy sent the band’s fanbase into a frenzy when he began posting the cryptic message, “June 1 – The 1975,” on his Twitter account. On May 31, he shared an odd comic strip, which some interpreted as the group’s impending demise. On that same night, the band blacked-out all of their social media pages.
The following evening brought the band back to social media, along with a new logo. Later on, tour dates in both the U.K. and U.S. were announced.
While things have been fairly quiet in the 1975’s camp since summer’s hubbub, the group took home the award for Best International Band (presented by AP Japan) at the 2015 AP Music Awards.
