The facepalm emoji is real - UPDATED

UPDATE: Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 12:30 p.m.

While the facepalm emoji is real, so is David Bowie's. The emoji looks very similiar to Ziggy Stardust, even sporting the lightning bolt across their face.

You can also make the Bowie emoji facepalm, shrug, and it comes as both a female and a male version.

Now that David Bowie has his own emoji, we've been thinking about who else needs to have their own emoji.

One obvious candidate would be Billie Joe Armstrong, possibly from the American Idiot era. The emoji could feature a black shirt, a red tie, and even eyeliner.

ORIGINAL POST: Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 10:00 a.m. Apple has released the first iOS 10.2 beta for iPhone and iPad, and the most exciting news is that we’ll be seeing new emojis soon enough.

Besides the facepalm and fingers crossed emojis, other popular additions coming with the iOS update include fox face, avocado and owl, reports Emojipedia. Plus, they are expanding emoji professions and gender representation in all skin tones, which is an update we’re stoked to see.

Mashable reported back in June that there would be 72 new emojis, which are passed by the universal emoji roster team, Unicode Consortium. The update is not yet available for download, though it is expected to be released sometime this month.
