As you may recall, The Flaming Lips' frontman Wayne Coyne embarked on a short tour of record stores around the country late last year, to promote the reissues of two of The Lips' early recordings, The Flaming Lips 1st EP and The Flaming Lips 2nd Cassette Demo, in celebration of the band's 30th anniversary. Additionally, Coyne brought an extremely limited version of the EP to all record store stops, housed in a life-sized, hand-made chocolate skull, which also contained a gold coin, granting access to any headlining Flaming Lips show in the world.
The singer has just announced another run of “Record Store Tour” meet and greet dates, set to take place later this week, where he will once again have a handful of chocolate skulls available for purchase, along with copies of the 1st EP.
On Wayne's last record store run, we caught up with him in Nashville, Tenn. to chat about the reissues, the band's plans for the new year, and the story behind the chocolate skulls, which Coyne was gracious enough to give us a glimpse of. Check out the APTV interview below:

Additionally, The Flaming Lips have been announced as performers for the Late Show With David Letterman's “Beatles Week,” with a live appearance slated to take place this Thursday, Feb. 6. The Lips are expected to cover The Beatles' classic “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds,” and will be joined by John Lennon's son Sean Lennon. You can check out a little taste of what's in store below:

The Lips have announced a handful of festival appearances throughout the summer, with more expected to arrive in the coming weeks, including a rumored potential appearance at Bonnaroo (we'll find out officially when the lineup arrives Feb. 19).
