The Ghost Inside guitarist Zach Johnson has eleventh—and hopefully last—surgery

The Ghost Inside guitarist Zach Johnson has undergone his eleventh surgery since the band's tragic bus accident last November.

“Heading in for surgery #11. I HOPE this is the last one,” Johnson shared in an Instagram post on Sept. 1.

In another, Johnson explained that the surgery was to help correct his broken femur. “Between taking the screw out of my femur, daily injections for the next three months (hormone stimulators), meds, and a machine I'll use daily I hope this heals up. In quite a bit of pain, but hopefully that's it for going under the knife!,” he says.

Johnson announced this surgery as unexpected back in July after doctors found that his femur wasn't healing when he went in for a check-up on his pelvis and hip.

The bus crash occurred on Nov. 19, 2015 and claimed the lives of both drivers involved. A GoFundMe was set up to benefit the Ghost Inside bus driver's family along with a separate page for the band's extensive recovery.

The Ghost Inside received the Most Dedicated Fanbase Skully at this year's APMAs, accepting the award with an emotional and inspiring speech.
