The Ghost Inside have won the award for Most Dedicated Fanbase, presented by Fearless Records, at the 2016 Alternative Press Music Awards. This comes nearly eight months after the Los Angeles metalcore outfit survived a tragic bus crash last November that claimed the life of their driver and severely injured the band members.

“This award is not really about us, we want to accept this award on behalf of those who have reached out to us, both directly and indirectly,” shared frontman Jonathan Vigil. “Your support has made it muhc easier for us to fight back and get back on stage…it’s because of you. You are the inspiration.”

The crash last November claimed the lives of two drivers, and while the band’s members were left in stable condition, they all have faced extensive recovery processes.

The scene has closely followed their story through triumphs and setbacks and offered support along the way. We watched as drummer Andrew Tkaczyk got behind a kit for the first time since losing his leg in the accident and as the Ghost Inside were announced as the first band confirmed to be playing Warped Tour 2017.

News of the band’s tragedy galvanized the scene into action. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help TGI and their families during this difficult time, with bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Parkway Drive, the Amity Affliction and many others donating much-needed funds. You Me At Six organized a hometown benefit with the proceeds earmarked to help the quartet. A separate GoFundMe page was created to benefit the family of TGI's deceased bus driver, Greg Hoke.
