The Maine discuss '90s cover song in new video

Watch as Arizona quintet the Maine talk about the opening track, a cover of New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give,” from their new EP. The cover also features guest vocals from the Technicolors’ Brennan Smiley.

“That record influenced us a lot,” guitarist Jared Monaco says in the video posted to the Maine’s YouTube channel. “I think that was one of the biggest staples for our band that came out of the 90s.”

“We really wanted to keep the integrity of the song for once in a cover, as opposed to dismantling the whole arrangement and really making it our own,” frontman John O’Callaghan continues. “We wanted to keep it almost as true to the song as possible.”

The Maine released Covers (Side A) last Friday through their independent management team 8123.
