The Replacements to reunite for Riot Fest in Chicago, Toronto and Denver

After a 22-year break from the stage, classic Minneapolis punk quartet the Replacements will reunite live at Riot Fest 2013 in Chicago, Toronto and Denver.

When the band reunited in the studio last year to raise funds for guitarist Slim Dunlap, who suffered a stroke in February of 2012, the experience naturally led to the notion of playing shows again. Founding bassist Tommy Stinson says the band never actually broke up, but that they simply walked off the stage near the end of their last show in Chicago on July 4, 1991 and hadn’t returned yet.

They'll join a solid cast at Riot Fest in Chicago (9/13-15), featuring pre-announced acts like Fall Out Boy, Blink-182, Violent Femmes, Motorhead, Rancid, Blondie, Public Enemy and Rocket From The Crypt.

The full lineups have also been revealed for the Toronto (8/25-25) and Denver (9/21-22) stops, which are to include Iggy & the Stooges, Blink 182, Rancid, Public Enemy, AFI, Flag, Rocket From The Crypt, the Dismemberment Plan and Best Coast among others.

Head to the official Riot Fest site for more information. The Replacements' aforementioned recording session became Songs For Slim, which was released in March and is streaming below via Spotify.
