Holland joined the Word Alive in March 2012 to replace Justin Salinas. Despite officially joining before the release of Life Cycles, Holland did not record drums for that record. He first appeared on Real. and also appeared on their latest album, Dark Matter.

His departure was officially announced Nov. 3 through a statement on the Word Alive's Facebook. Holland left to pursue other musical pursuits.

Band's official statement:

“A new chapter in The Word Alive's story has begun. We'll be turning over the touring drummer duties to our long time friend Matt Horn. Those who have followed our journey for years know him as our long time drum tech and the performer on our album 'Life Cycles'. We believed after much deliberation that the best path for us, was to keep things in the TWA family. Matt has been one of our biggest supporters and it is our honor to give him this well deserved opportunity! Enjoy this play through of “Sellout” off of our latest album “Dark Matter” and come welcome Matt to the family personally at a show nearest you in 2017!

– Telle, Tony, Zack, Daniel”
