There's an actual website that tells you "how to be a pop-punk kid"

If you’ve ever Googled something, chances are you’ve come across wikiHow. In short, the site consists of how-to guides and tutorials regarding everyday life.

QUIZ: Which pop-punk band are you?

A certain page on the site, titled How To Be A Pop-Punk Kid, has been making its way around the web as of late.

The “process” is broken down into two categories: Music and Getting The Look.

Music

1. Listen to the bands. Of course listen to pop punk. Try Neck Deep, The Wonder Years, The Story So Far, etc., for current pop punk, or listen to oldies like Blink-182 and Descendents. Also listen to emo or indie pop punk. That is stuff like Tigers Jaw and The Front Bottoms. You could also try some hardcore like Turnstile or Knocked Loose. Post-hardcore like Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens is not pop punk, and you will most likely be called a poser/scene kid for listening to them, but if you really like them then do what you want.

2. Learn to play an instrument. This is optional but fun and good as a hobby. Guitar tends to be very popular and is very easy to do. If you are looking for a band then try Bass Guitar and Drums as they are what bands tend to need.

3. As mentioned in step 2 – start a band! Again this is optional but can be great to make friends.

Getting The Look

1. For t-shirts, the easiest way to show the world that you are pop punk is by wearing a band shirt, but do not limit yourself just to merchandise. Try some pocket tees or a simple tank top with a flannel.

2. Decide on the legwear. Skinny jeans are gods. Rip them and destroy them as much as you like. In the summer try denim shorts.

3. For your footwear wear Vans or Converse. Sometimes boots work too, like Doc Marten's. Don't wear Toms. Just don't.

4. There are certain staples to pop punk fashion! These include floral patterns, windbreakers, and snapback hats worn backwards.

5. Hair can go any way. There is really no set hairstyle for pop punk. Some people choose to dye their hair but this is not necessary.

Additionally, there are tips and a warning:
