YUNGBLUD is back with yet another taste of his highly-anticipated sophomore album WEIRD!.

If things had gone according to plan, YUNGBLUD fans would’ve already started listening to WEIRD! over and over again. However, due to production delays amid the coronavirus pandemic, YUNGBLUD, aka Dominic Harrison, pushed the album’s release back to Dec. 4.
Even though WEIRD! is delayed, YUNGBLUD has still offered plenty of tastes of the forthcoming LP over the past few months. Earlier this year, he debuted the album’s title track along with an entertaining video.
Since then, he has also unleashed the Brit-pop hit “strawberry lipstick,” the emotional track “god save me, but don’t drown me out” and, most recently, the sickly sweet tune “cotton candy.”

The inspiration for “mars” came to be after YUNGBLUD encountered a young trans woman while performing at 2018’s Warped Tour. Hearing her story about how the music community welcomed her with open arms eventually led to YUNGBLUD creating “mars.”
“She told me how her parents had come to the show with her, and how seeing our community helped them to understand that her coming out as trans wasn’t just a phase—this is who she really was,” he says. “It made me cry to think that we could have that kind of impact and change people’s perceptions, just by being ourselves.”
