This synthesizer turns weather into music

Slate recently ran a profile on musician/electronic wizard Quintron (known as the Weather Warlock), who, using a special synthesizer, is able to transform temperature, wind, sun and moisture into a very relaxing form of ambient music. Below, you can hear a live stream of the weather from New Orleans. Check it out below, and let us know your thoughts.

Via Slate:

“Instead of capturing the sounds of rain via microphone, Quintron build electronic audio circuits to approximate those sounds. The circuits are based on those sounds you might hear on old organ drum—electronic bongos, for example, come to mind. He then used the semi-conductivity of rain to turn LED lights on and off. Light sensors, triggered by the LEDs, kicked in to turn the sounds on and off.”
