Thursday plot US tour playing early albums in full

Your dad’s favorite early-aughts screamo band Thursday just revealed a whopping list of tour dates for 2019, where they’ll be performing their classic albums Full Collapse and War All The Time in their entirety. See all the new dates below.

And while lead vocalist Geoff Rickly and his band of post-hardcore icons are already playing a handful of the full-album shows before the year is out, the just-revealed jaunt has Thursday covering most of the U.S. for a two-night stand in each city: the first show for Full Collapse material, the final concert dedicated to War All The Time tunes, as reported by Lambgoat. And it sounds like a rockin’ good time for all.

Not to mention, you might want to catch the revered outfit while the fire’s still hot, as Thursday warn in an announcement that next year’s retrospective concerts will be the end of the run for live shows. The band’s hanging it up (again):

“It’s our honor to announce that we’ll be ending our 20th Anniversary by taking Full Collapse and War All the Time on the road, for a very limited US tour, in early 2019. When we reunited the band, two years ago, we had no idea that it would carry us through our 20th year or that we’d be selling out every show that we play in 2018. It’s been a very gratifying and humbling year for us. This tour is our attempt at saying ‘thank you’ to all of the people around the US that have supported us for all these years. We’ll be playing small venues, like we did when we began touring. At the conclusion of this tour, we intend to put an end to ‘the reunion.’ When we stopped playing last time, it wasn’t on the best of terms. This time, we get to put down touring on the very highest of notes: in each other’s lives and able to pick up and play together behind closed doors whenever we want. If we are ever able to do Thursday again, it will be a new, separate chapter. Thank you all for your time, attention and friendship.”

The influential group dropped Full Collapse back in 2001, the Victory Records release fast becoming a scene staple among emo and hardcore listeners. It was followed in 2003 with the ambitious War All The Time, issued by Island Records.

But after three more albums, Thursday broke up in 2012 following their sixth full-length, No Devolución. Rickly performed with United Nations and No Devotion before the band got back together two years ago for some reunion shows.

And this all makes good on yesterday’s tease from the band, a list of coordinates for each tour city sending fervent Thursday fans into puzzle-solving paroxysm. So, will you be seeing a Thursday show soon? Sound off in the comments.
