Thursday sell out their face masks made of merch and donate hundreds

Thursday revealed a week ago that they would be using their unsold merch items to help create resources for workers on the front lines of the battle against the COVID-19 coronavirus and they’re revealing some good news about their initiative.

Their masks for fans sold out in just nine seconds giving them the ability to create hundreds more to donate.

On March 30, Thursday revealed they would be using appropriate merch items to create fabric face masks.

Then, they revealed they would be working with New Jersey organizations NJ Maskmakers and FaceMaskWarriors to create them. Fans were requesting to be able to buy their own so they made extras to be able to donate more. All proceeds being used to buy more masks for donation. They also say they will be selling branded items for isolation including jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and more.

Last week we announced that we had started the process of turning appropriate stock merchandise from our web store into fabric face masks for frontline medical workers and essential personnel and said that further information about how you can all help would follow later in the week. Here are those details: we have pulled stock from our web store and, today, we are shipping them to various grassroots organizations in NJ who will convert them into ‘fabric’ face masks to assist the frontline workers. Thank you to NJ Maskmakers and FaceMaskWarriors for everything you are doing for our community. Since so many people have written us to ask for one of the “Thursday t-shirt face masks” we have also decided on a second tier of mask-making effort: These dove branded masks will be sold starting Wednesday (1pm EST) in our web-store (link in bio) – 100% of the proceeds from these will go to producing more masks. If you buy one then a minimum of two ‘factory’ masks (and even more when we scale) will be donated to one of the NY/NJ area hospitals. We have also come up with a couple of isolation related items (jigsaws / playing cards / candles) that will hopefully help relieve the boredom and try and cultivate some sense of distraction, fun and irony! All new items will be sold based on pre-orders for a period of 10 days before we manufacture and send to you. If we don’t reach a minimum order requirement on a specific item then we will simply issue refunds! We hope that this approach can bring a smile to some faces, while providing some masks for essential workers. Finally, In a bit of lighter personal news: Thursday welcomed a new family member into the fold last week. Congratulations to our drummer, Tucker, on the birth of his daughter – Birdie! Then, they revealed the masks sold out in a sweet and short nine seconds. They quickly started working with their manufacturer and are confirming another 300 masks are going on sale. With this, they are able to donate 1200 masks to frontline workers on top of their cloth donations.

We cannot believe it – in 9 seconds (NINE SECONDS!!!!!!) we sold out of the entire mask stock. Thank you so much. We are currently on with the factory and are confirming they can produce extra. At 3pm another batch of 300 will be put on sale. We are absolutely blown away by the response and the good news is that we are now able to donate an additional 1,200 masks to the front lines (on top of our cloth donations) because of your generosity! We are frantically chasing down options for ‘lycra ear piece’ material as there is currently a nationwide shortage, so there is a small chance that the ‘new’ masks might be a slightly different design. We are doing everything that we possibly can to get more out there to those that need them as quickly as possible. Once again – THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
