Tom DeLonge (blink-182, Angels & Airwaves) to release children’s book

Tom Delonge's love for aliens and outer space is no secret. After releasing songs like blink-182’s ‘Aliens Exist’ [Enema of the State, 1999] and the 2011 film Love, produced by Angels & Airwaves, DeLonge is embarking on a new career first by releasing a children’s book called The Lonely Astronaut on Christmas Eve.

The book, written by DeLonge and illustrated by Mike Henry [co-founder at Big Menace Industries, Art Director at Booyah in San Francisco, CA], follows a rocketeer spending a cold Christmas alone on the moon who is visited by extraterrestrial life.

It will be available for presale on Monday, November 25 at Angels & Airwaves’ official website. The 'Lonely Astronaut Christmas Package' is limited to the first 1,000 customers and at a cost of $50 recipients can expect a hardcover, first edition of the book, including a certificate of authenticity signed by DeLonge, one digital version of the book for iPad, Nook or Kindle, a 'Lonely Astronaut' ornament, and a limited-edition t-shirt.

A charity auction for the Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation will begin on November 25 through CharityBuzz.com in which fans can bid on a package that includes: The complete 22 pages of signed original art from the book, a DeLonge signed guitar, and a meet and greet with DeLonge in his San Diego studio (travel/hotel not included, alternate plans can be arranged for those unable to travel to San Diego).

Don’t forget to preorder the book here on Monday!
