Here’s who you can play as in the ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2’ reboot

Back in May, it was announced that the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and Pro Skater 2 video games are getting a reboot this year. Both games have been remastered and will feature all of the iconic pro skaters and old-school action from the ‘90s and 2000s with new and revamped levels. The games, issued by Activision, will be released Sept. 4, 2020.

Now, the full roster of pro skaters, both new and old, joining the reboot has been revealed.

Video gamers and skaters alike were stoked to hear about the remastering of Pro Skater 1 and 2. For Hawk, he ultimately hopes that the reboot of these classic games will inspire a new generation.

“The original Tony Hawk Pro Skater series is a big factor in the evolution of modern skateboarding tricks and inspiring many of the pro skaters you know and love today,” Hawk says. “I’m excited to help inspire a new generation of skateboarders and gamers—and existing fans—to grow the sport even further.”

Even though it’s a reboot, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater will still include some fan-favorite features from the original games. Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater modes have returned. This time, Create-A-Park will have massive customization options. And the remaster has upped the level of goals and challenges. Players can share parks online with friends and outfit skaters with skill options.

As well, the recently revealed roster of pro skaters is making a lot of people happy. First and foremost, the games will include some favorites including Hawk, Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, Bucky Lasek, Elissa Steamer, Kareem Campbell, Andrew Reynolds, Bob Burnquist, Eric Koston, Rodney Mullen, Jamie Thomas, Rune Glifberg and Chad Muska.

As well, various new pro skaters are joining the Pro Skater family including Nyjah Huston, Leo Baker, Leticia Bufoni, Aori Nishimura, Lizzie Armanto, Shane O’Neill, Riley Hawk and Tyshawn Jones.

Most of the skaters featured in the original games are in the 40s and 50s now. As such, they are appearing as their current ages in the reboot. This makes way for the newcomers that range from 18 to 30 in age.

Michelle Bresaw, VP of product management and marketing at Activision, says that the new lineup additions are in efforts to make the games more inclusive and representative of the skating world today.

“Modern-day skateboarding originated from a generation of skaters who grew up playing the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games,” Bresaw says. “The world-class pro skaters we’re adding to this remaster took the tricks and combos from the video game and made them possible in real life. We’re proud that the remaster will represent the skate culture landscape today with a diverse roster of skaters that will appeal to any gamer.”
