Tony Hawk reacts to that ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketch about ‘Pro Skater’
Over the weekend, Saturday Night Live gave Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise an unusual shout-out.
Now, Hawk has shared his thoughts on the unexpected SNL sketch that is all about the franchise’s new game.

Hawk is still celebrating the success of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The reboot was released last month and quickly went on to sell over 1 million copies in its first ten days. This feat is the first-ever in the game’s franchise.
Now, Pro Skater 1+2 and the franchise have become the subject of a Saturday Night Live sketch. Starring Chris Rock and Kyle Mooney, the sketch aired over the weekend and depicts a video gamer addicted to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater back in 2000. Rock soon appears in the gamer’s basement and transports him to 2020 to see the state of the world two decades into the future.
The gamer soon finds that in 2020, he is still living in mother’s basement and is glued to his chair while playing Pro Skater. As Rock’s character tells the gamer about the coronavirus pandemic and other ongoing world events, the gamer is clearly distracted.

His eyes are glued to the TV as he watches his future self play Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. He is in awe of the game’s graphics and the fact that a PlayStation 4 exists. Despite all of the ongoing problems in 2020, the gamer wants to stay in the future just so he can play the revamped Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. His decision goes against Rock’s intentions of showing him how bad things are in the future.
Since the sketch aired on Saturday, Hawk has shared his thoughts on the surprise shout out from Saturday Night Live. He thanks SNL for the unexpected sketch and that he never imagined being part of the legendary show.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is available for PlayStation 4, PC and XBox One. The revamped game includes various new options and customizations including a full new roster of pro skaters.
From the legendary skaters featured in the early Pro Skater games to new faces, there is now a diverse selection of skaters to play. The new lineup is in efforts to make the game more inclusive and representative of the skating world today.
Since its release, players have been using the number of custom options available to their advantage. One blink-182 fan recreated Tom DeLonge‘s Boomer from the “First Date” video in the new Pro Skater game. As well, another player paid tribute to Nightmare On Elm Street with an impressive Freddy Krueger aka “Shreddy Krueger” creation.
