Earlier this morning, fans were sent into a panic when they received a Google alert saying that Tool had dropped a new album, only to realize that it wasn’t a new album from the band they were hoping for.

As we know, fans have been waiting for a new Tool album since 2006, so we can only imagine the excitement people must have felt when they saw “lllutionWorld by Tool was released today.”

Of course, they soon realized nothing was as it seems and Google mistakenly mixed up Tool with a SoundCloud rapper named TOOL$. Understandably so, fans weren’t too pleased with the mix-up.

The band recently confirmed their next full-length release in a Facebook post where they shared details of the upcoming release:

“After all the years of writing and arranging (and re-arranging) at the band’s loft, I can at this time officially report that the guys have moved into a major studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin in earnest,” reads the update. “For the past few days the band members have been getting sonically adjusted to their new surroundings.”

The band’s vocalist, Maynard James Keenan recently announced that new music is on the way during his acceptance speech at Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods Awards. While he didn’t specify what project the new music will be released from, we can only hope he was talking about Tool.

This is the band’s first full-length effort since 2006’s 10,000 Days, and we couldn’t be more excited to listen to new music!
