Tool confirm they're finally in the studio to record new album
Over the weekend, Tool shared a studio update confirming the recording of their new album, getting fans everywhere excited for the first full-length effort from the group since 2006's 10,000 Days. See the band's note below.

Affirmed via the group's Facebook page and the official Tool website, the rock band dropped some news on the proceedings for the upcoming release. Revealing they've entered the studio to begin tracking for the album, the update also sees confirmation that producer Joe Barresi (Parkway Drive, Queens Of The Stone Age) is behind the boards.
“After all the years of writing and arranging (and re-arranging) at the band's loft, I can at this time officially report that the guys have moved into a major studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin in earnest,” reads the update. “For the past few days the band members have been getting sonically adjusted to their new surroundings.”
Last week, Tool guitarist Adam Jones shared what appeared to be a brief recording clip from the studio, the musician highlighting a guitar-and-amp setup on Instagram. Captioned with the acknowledgment, “Day 1,” it was taken as the first band member confirmation of Tool's renewed studio activity prior to the band's affirmation this weekend.
Things have been steadily building up for Tool's fifth album: Last month, singer Maynard James Keenan revealed he was “100% done” with writing lyrics for all but one new song, though he noted they were a “long way from the finish line.” Last summer, bassist Justin Chancellor said the band were almost finished composing the music for the new album.
It's been 4,332 days since Tool's last album was released.
