During a recent performance at Northern Invasion, the band’s vocalist Maynard James Keenan took a moment to poke a little fun at his bandmates, asking when they’d be finished recording their parts on the album.

Speaking of his recent habit of wearing riot gear during Tool’s live shows, the singer shared that the reasoning is due to his fear of fruit and the audience’s lack of patience waiting for the new release, saying:

“Well, I'll tell you. I'm afraid of bananas, and other forms of fruit, because eventually you wonderful people are going to run out of fucking patience. So I beg you—Danny, Adam and Justin, please finish your parts so I can finish mine, and take this fucking riot gear off.”

The band recently confirmed their next full-length release in a Facebook post where they shared details of the upcoming release:

“After all the years of writing and arranging (and re-arranging) at the band's loft, I can at this time officially report that the guys have moved into a major studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin in earnest,” reads the update. “For the past few days the band members have been getting sonically adjusted to their new surroundings.”

This is the band’s first full-length effort since 2006's 10,000 Days, and we couldn’t be more excited to listen to new music!
