‘Toy Story 4’ alternate ending leaves Woody’s future in question

Toy Story 4 is gearing up for its home-entertainment release, and fans who purchase it will get to see an alternate ending that changes everything for Bo Peep and Woody.

In case you couldn’t guess, there are major spoilers about the newest Disney/Pixar film ahead.

In the original cut, we find out that Woody ends up leaving Bonnie’s room. He does so to hit the road with an adventurous Bo Peep. Bo thinks having a kid is completely unnecessary, because she’s been able to make it on her own.

However, the alternate ending totally turns that on its head, according to Entertainment Weekly.

In the new ending, Bo totally changes her mind about not wanting a human companion when she realizes she’s meant to be with the “kid from the store,” which we can assume is Harmony. She changes Bo Peep’s rebellious lifestyle and puts her back in a warm and loving home.

In the original cut, we didn’t get the feeling there was a strong chemistry between Harmony and Bo. However, this ending challenges that notion completely. It leaves us with many questions about where Woody fits into all this, since he gave up his life in the bedroom to travel with Bo.

Toy Story 4 will be released digitally on Oct. 1 and on Blu-ray Oct. 8.

The latest Toy Story film was a huge hit in the box office, amassing $1 billion and making Disney the first studio to have 5 films cross that threshold in a single year.

The other films to cross the $1 billion mark are Aladdin, The Lion King, Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame.

Toy Story 4 now joins Incredibles 2, Finding Dory and Toy Story 3 as the fourth Pixar film to make that much money.

According to a release, the film is now the eighth-highest grossing animated movie ever.

It’s expected that this year’s Frozen 2 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will also make $1 billion, which would move the record to a whopping seven titles in one year.
