Lil Nas X shows rock side with Travis Barker collab track

Country-rap phenomenon Lil Nas X has released his collab with blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, and it’s pretty much everything.

Lil Nas dropped his 8-track EP on Friday which includes “F9mily (You & Me)” the collab we never knew we needed.

We can definitely hear the rock roots come out in the track, with Lil Nas X even taking on an edgier vibe on vocals.

You can listen to the song and entire 7 EP EP below.

We have known about this collab for a few weeks now, when Barker told Spin in an interview  that he wrote a song with the country-rap.

“I have a song with Lil Nas X that’s going to be on his EP,” Barker shares. “He came to the studio, and I played a couple [of] beats that I thought would be stuff he was into. Then I played something on accident where he stopped and was like, ‘What is that? I’ve got to have that.’ It was actually an idea I had for the blink album.”

The blink drummer is no stranger when it comes to collaborating with rap artists. Barker and $uicideboy$dropped an EP last month, and according to the Spin interview, he just finished up an EP with rapper 03 Greedo and is currently working on a rock project with Trippie Redd.

Recently, Barker and YUNGBLUD also teamed up with Machine Gun Kelly for his song “I Think I’m Okay.”

The trio performed last night in Los Angeles on a whim. To fill you in,  Machine Gun Kelly performed in Anaheim as part of his Hotel Diablo tour. On the same night, YUNGBLUD was holding his show in Los Angeles at The Roxy Theatre. Both artists began teasing an “After Party” at The Roxy at midnight, with MGK driving to LA to surprise fans with a special performance of “I Think I’m Okay.” Barker joined, and it was a total party.

Taking to the top of a tour bus, MGK and YUNGBLUD gave an a cappella performance of the track for fans outside.

More news

As for blink-182, the band just dropped their latest track, “Generational Divide” as expected.

After teasing the end of the week release on Instagram a few days ago, the band has finally given another taste of their upcoming album.

Originally, blink dropped a few teasers via Instagram posts and stories, even sharing a short snippet of “Generational Divide.”

Now we have the full track, even if it’s not much longer than the previously shared clip. After Mark Hoppus revealed that the new record would be joke song-free, fan’s most likely weren’t expecting sub-minute track.

Nonetheless, the new song is a perfect illustration of Travis Barker‘s promise of a return to the self-titled album’s harder, punk sound.

However, we’re still waiting on music video, which should give more background to the pictures posted by Matt Skiba and the rest of the band, showing off a “punk rock closet.”

You can check out the new song below.
