Travis Barker is teaming up with viral “Old Town Road” rapper Lil Nas X

Despite blink-182 getting busy with their upcoming Enema anniversary tour and eighth studio album, drummer Travis Barker shows no signs of slowing down with his cross-genre collabs.

In a recent interview, Barker told Spin that he wrote a song with country-rap sensation Lil Nas X.

“I have a song with Lil Nas X that’s going to be on his EP,” Barker shares. “He came to the studio, and I played a couple [of] beats that I thought would be stuff he was into. Then I played something on accident where he stopped and was like, ‘What is that? I’ve got to have that.’ It was actually an idea I had for the blink album.”

The blink drummer is no stranger when it comes to collaborating with rap artists. Barker and $uicideboy$ dropped an EP last month, and according to the Spin interview, he just finished up an EP with rapper 03 Greedo and is currently working on a rock project with Trippie Redd.

Recently, Barker and YUNGBLUD also teamed up with Machine Gun Kelly for his song “I Think I’m Okay.”

After weeks of teasing the collab with photos and videos, “I Think I’m Okay” first debuted live at Bunbury Music Festival on his Hotel Diablo tour.

The track officially premiered on Beats 1 with Zane Lowe, and MGK shared that he was at first “scared to even bring [Barker] the song ’cause [he] was like, ‘Maybe he’s gonna think it’s too blink-182.’”

Nevertheless, the collaborative process between the trio went smooth.

“Fun fact about this song is that YUNGBLUD came into my studio 15 minutes before I needed to go to Travis’ house because we had a session planned,” MGK tells Lowe. “I was like, ‘Dude, I have this crazy song idea. I just need you to do something, but I don’t have any time. I have to go to Travis’ house. I can’t waste his time. You just gotta get in there and do something.’

“[YUNGBLUD] went in there and freestyled his whole verse and just left my house all within 10 minutes,” he says. “I called him back 30 minutes later, and I’m like, ‘Dude, Travis Barker’s putting drums on the song right now.”
