Colin Kaepernick, girlfriend talk Travis Scott's Super Bowl appearance
The recently announced Travis Scott performance at this year’s Super Bowl halftime is making a lot of people unhappy.
Now, Colin Kaepernick and his girlfriend, Nessa Dias, are sharing their thoughts on the matter, and they aren’t very positive.

After a lot of speculation, Travis Scott’s and Big Boi‘s performance with Maroon 5 at Super Bowl LIII was confirmed over the weekend.
Maroon 5 was announced as the headlining act, but they struggled to find other performers to support them on stage due to the NFL blacklisting Colin Kaepernick for his on-field protests.
In December, rumors came out that Scott, Big Boi and Cardi B were all reportedly in talks to perform at football’s biggest event. However, Cardi B turned down the performance in support of Kaepernick.
Other artists that refused to perform at the 2019 Super Bowl also include Rihanna and Jay Z.
Alongside the announcement, Scott explained he agreed to perform at the halftime show in the condition that the NFL partner with him to make a $500,000 donation to the Dream Corps, a company that supports social justice efforts.
Scott and Kaepernick’s (dis)agreement
On Jan. 15, Variety reported Scott and Kaepernick discussed the rapper’s Super Bowl appearance on a phone conversation. That talk led to the Dream Corps deal.
“A source close to Scott said that while the two did not necessarily agree, they emerged from the conversation with mutual respect and understanding,” Variety writes.
However, today (Jan. 16), Kaepernick’s girlfriend, Nessa Dias, took to Twitter to deny that the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback was OK with the show.
“There is NO mutual respect and there is NO understanding for anyone working against @Kaepernick7 PERIOD,” Dias wrote.

Although Kaepernick himself didn’t write anything about the report, he shared Dias’ tweet. He also retweeted another tweet from from Hot 97 host Ebro Darden, who wrote “Kap did not approve this bullsh*t!”

Super Bowl LIII will air Feb. 3, 2019 from the Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
