Travis Scott crowdsurfing off stage marks Super Bowl halftime show highlight

Travis Scott brought a hardcore edge to the Super Bowl halftime show by not being afraid to end his set with a crowdsurf.

The rapper joined Maroon 5 and Big Boi on stage on Sunday and granted many fans’ wishes to bring SpongeBob to the Super Bowl.

The rapper made an entrance by literally entering the stage with an intro from the iconic Spongebob “Sweet Victory” performance. He literally flew in a meteor to the stage and did a rendition of his hit song “Sicko Mode.”

At the end, instead of doing a traditional mic drop, he just crowd surfed away at the biggest concert of the year. It was so unconventional and gave us serious Warped Tour vibes.

Other than that, the entire show didn’t stand out much. Adam Levine ripped off his shirt and Big Boi pulled up in a car on the turf. It was definitely more lowkey than years past.

The entire time leading up to the Super Bowl performance was filled with controversy. The NFL struggled to find other acts to perform with Maroon 5. The struggle was due to the boycotting of the NFL due to them blacklisting Colin Kaepernick for his on-field protests.

The NFL also canceled Maroon 5’s press conference at the Super Bowl. The statement said that the artists would “let the show do the talking.” However, many people do not believe it. They think it was solely for the band to avoid questions about Kaepernick.

Scott partnered with the NFL to make donations to charity in exchange for his performance. Maroon 5 also made a donation, but they still defended their decision to do the show even after fans petitioned for them to drop out.
