Trent Reznor and Jared Leto earn nominations at the 2021 Golden Globes

The nominations for the 2021 Golden Globes have officially been announced. Among the nominated this year is music duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who are nominated TWICE in the same category. Jared Leto also snagged a nomination for his role in crime drama The Little Things.

Of course, the nominations have caused quite a stir online. In particular, a lot of people are wondering why actors such as Zendaya, who won an Emmy last year, are missing from the list.

Clearly, due to the COVID-19 crisis, a lot of films weren’t released last year. However, movie and television buffs were still treated to plenty of content in 2020. This year’s Golden Globes nominations list is pretty stacked with shows such as The Crown, Schitt’s Creek and Ryan Murphy‘s Ratched earning nominations. In fact, Netflix is dominating the 2021 awards show with a staggering 42 nominations.

Among the nominated this year are Nine Inch Nails Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The duo is nominated twice in the Best Original Score category for their work on Disney‘s Soul and Netflix’s MankLast year, Reznor and Ross snagged an Emmy award for their score for Watchmen.

Along with them, Jared Leto is a contender in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture category. He is up against Marvel actor Daniel Kaluuya, Sascha Baron Cohen, Bill Murray and Leslie Odom Jr. for his role in The Little Things.

Despite the long list of nominations, the internet has a lot of thoughts about the individuals who are missing from the list. In particular, Euphoria fans are wondering why Zendaya wasn’t nominated for her portrayal as struggling drug addict Rue.

This is the second year Zendaya is missing from the nominations list despite winning an Emmy for her Euphoria role last year. The Spider-Man actress has also been receiving Oscar buzz for her acting in Netflix’s Malcolm & Marie. So, naturally, fans are very confused.

Along with this, the Golden Globes is receiving backlash from snubbing shows such as I May Destroy You and Bridgerton. As well, many were surprised to see Emily In Paris earn nominations after being widely criticized following its Netflix premiere last year.

The 2021 Golden Globes ceremony is happening on Feb. 28 on NBC.
