Trivium bassist: “Bands used to rail against commercialism, now we all have clothing lines"

While expressing his affection for punk band Pennywise’s album Straight Ahead, Trivium bassist Paolo Gregoletto took a shot at commercialism in music—specifically, band members with their own “clothing lines.” “Bands used to rail against greed and commercialism,” he said in a tweet, “now we all have clothing lines…”

It’s an interesting point that Gregoletto brings up, as most prominent musicians do have their own clothing line, regardless of how involved with it they actually are. But it’s just a reality of today’s music business. Albums aren’t selling, and your favorite musicians—punk or not—have to eat somehow!  What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments.
