Twenty one pilots have revealed that they are currently working on a follow up to Trench that will definitely cause fans to go crazy with theories.
The band recently talked all things Trench in an interview with NME.
In the interview, the duo talk about how Tyler Joseph wrote much of Trench in his basement in Columbus. However, they are currently writing their next record while on tour.
“There’s a character that hasn’t been talked about that plays a huge role and that’s probably where we’re going next,” Joseph said about the next record. We already are thinking of the possible theories.
They reveal a lot of personal stories in the interview about their own mental health struggles and how that translates to music. Joseph also praised current artists who aren’t afraid to talk about their mental health.
“I do think that our culture, when it comes to suicide and depression, has made leaps and bounds,” he said. “I’m so proud that music has spearheaded the ability to talk about this so openly, and talking about it is so important.”
“So in a sense I really feel like there’s a big side of it that’s been covered with ‘let’s talk about it, like, you’re not insane there’s nothing wrong with just you look how many other people go through this.’”
