twenty one pilots go back to school, behind the scenes

Did you know twenty one pilots drummer Josh Dun attended school in Ukraine? That’s what the musician cheekily claims in the band’s new Beyond The Video clip for Trench track “Nico And The Niners.” Go back to school with Josh, below.

“This is an old school that I actually used to go to,” Dun says on location in Kiev, Ukraine. “Being here brings back a lot of memories. … Not a lot’s changed, but they have added a little bit of extra element[s], which is what you see here today.”

The deadpan monologue reprises the TØP percussionist’s outlandish Icelandic moss studies from the Beyond The Video banger for “Jumpsuit,” uploaded earlier this month, both entries lampooning the video locations of the Trench trilogy.

As the clip continues, pilots frontman Tyler Joseph investigates Dun’s claims. “Didn’t you say that Will Smith was your teacher for, like, a semester?” he asks. “He was,” the drummer confirms. “Will Smith was my biology teacher.”

We’re taking all of Dun’s assertions at face value while we anxiously await twenty one pilots’ fifth studio album Trench, of which we’ve also heard the tunes “My Blood” and “Levitate” in addition to the duo of “Nico” and “Jumpsuit.”

And, as if you need reminding, Trench is out Oct. 5.
