twenty one pilots are the second rock band to break this streaming record

twenty one pilots just made a bit of history. The hyper-popular duo just became the second rock band ever to achieve more than a single one-billion-streamed song on Spotify

The most recent track to hit the mark was their 2016 hit “Heathens.”

It’s very rare for any artist in any genre to have even one song with over a billion streams. In fact, less than 100 musicians are currently on the list.

twenty one pilots already achieved that feat with their massively popular “Stressed Out.” That song dropped in 2015 and it still seems like no matter where you go, it’s playing in the background.

twenty one pilots have been relatively silent musically since Trench dropped in 2018. But that doesn’t stop fans from blasting their tunes over and over again.

Now, we’re sure you’ve been dying to know why they’re the second rock group to accomplish this massive feat. Well, that’s because of Imagine Dragons

Imagine Dragons have also been musically silent since their album Origins dropped in 2018. Sure, they’ve dropped a few collabs here and there but nothing as monumental as “Believer” and “Thunder.” Those are the two billion-streamed songs that led Imagine Dragons to accomplish this feat first.

Sadly for twenty one pilots fans, the tie won’t last forever because “Radioactive” is almost to one billion as well.

Given the popularity of both groups, we’re sure that at the end of the day, one won’t entirely reign supreme over the other.

In case you were wondering, in the grand scheme of Spotify streams for groups, the Chainsmokers lead the way with three songs over one billion streams. One that is included is their hit “Closer” with Halsey

For the record, solo artists that have a song over one billion streams include Post Malone, Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran.

Congratulations to twenty one pilots. This feat is well earned. Now please give us some more music so we can give you a billion more streams.

More twenty one pilots

twenty one pilots fans are a different breed. Between hilarious baby mashups and cryptic theories based on color, the TOP fandom is constantly busy.

Now, one devoted member of the Skeleton Clique has brought us back to the 90s by recreating “Fall Away” as a Game Boy anthem.

Just because twenty one pilots aren’t dropping new songs right now doesn’t mean we can’t get new-sounding material courtesy of the internet. One awesome fan decided to turn “Fall Away” from twenty one pilots’ 11-year old self-titled debut into something that sounds closer to 25 years old.

The reimagined track sends us straight back to the late 1990s, complete with ice-cold cans of surge and a pantry full of Dunkaroos

We’re sitting on the living room floor trying desperately to get the Silph Scope from Team Rocket while Kenan & Kel plays softly in the background.

“Fall Away” captures that nostalgia and will have you wishing you could boot up The Legend Of Zelda one more time.

The creator mentions that they didn’t include the verses because it was difficult to pinpoint the notes for each word. Check out the fan-made twenty one pilots “Fall Away” GameBoy track below.
