Twenty One Pilots’ “Heathens” reimagined by hardcore/metal string quartet Seven)Suns—watchMay 8, 2017
Hardcore metal string quartet Seven)Suns have covered music from bands like Dillinger Escape Plan and Pantera in the past. Now the group is back, bringing a dissonant, raw take on Twenty One Pilots' “Heathens.”
“Heathens,” Dillinger's “43% Burnt” and more will be featured on their upcoming album For the Hearts Still Beating, set for release June 23 via Party Smasher Inc.
“We were really excited to tackle 'Heathens,'” Seven)Suns' Earl Maneein says. “We wanted the challenge of taking a really cool radio friendly song in and re-imagining it our way, which is to say, through the filters of chamber music, metal, and hardcore.
“In addition, it was also an interesting experiment for me to take a song that I resonate with lyrically and try to translate that sentiment to a completely instrumental medium,” he continues. “We'll see whether the public connects with our version or not, but personally, I'm happy with where we took this particular song.”
