If you remember back in the days of Twilight’s popularity, the biggest debate was if you were Team Jacob or Team Edward. When the Twilight team heard the news of Pattinson’s next role, they picked a side — Bruce Wayne.

We honestly couldn’t think of a more perfect response to the big news.

At just 32 years old, Pattinson becomes the youngest actor to ever play Batman on the big screen.

The Matt Reeves-directed reboot is described as a “noir-driven detective movie” playing up the “world’s greatest detective” angle. It’s also not going to be an origin story like many reboots and won’t tie into the existing DC films.

“He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been,” Reeves previously explained. “I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”

The new Batman movie was originally being directed by Ben Affleck until Reeves took over the directing role in January 2017. Affleck and Warner Bros. decided the actor-director should leave the Caped Crusader behind following the “Justice League” film.

Warner Bros. is giving Reeves plenty of time to make his script perfect, hoping the latest version of the classic superhero is done right. After disappointing reactions to both “Batman v Superman” and “Justice League,” the company wants the upcoming film to be a smash hit.

Pre-production on the Warner Bros.-DC Comics flick is starting this year.
