Robert Pattinson still thinks ‘Twilight’ is “a weird story”

The Twilight craze was a strange time for all of us. Speaking as objectively as possible, the cultural phenomena of romantic teenagers and vampires sweeping the globe for half a decade was a bit weird. Well, a star in that saga Robert Pattinson still has feelings for his role as Edward Cullen over a decade later.

The newest Batman actor discusses how weird it was in a recent interview. Check out the details below.

Robert Pattinson became a household name in 2008’s Twilight where he starred as teen vampire Edward Cullen. Now, 11 years after he rose to fame, Cullen still hates the whole idea.

“It’s a weird story, Twilight.’ It’s not just like – it’s strange how people responded a lot to it.” Pattinson says in an interview with Variety. “I guess the books are very romantic, but at the same time, it’s not like The Notebook romantic.”

“The Notebook is very sweet and heartbreaking, but Twilight is about this guy, and he finds the one girl he wants to be with, and he also wants to eat her. I mean, not eat her, but drink her blood or whatever,” Pattinson said. “It’s not that other people are telling them they can’t be together, it’s his own body telling him that.”

So there you have it. Even the star of the flick thinks the whole idea is a bit weird so anyone who also thinks that can now feel validated.

The Twilight soundtrack, on the other hand, went hard. Upon release, it was #1 on the US Billboard’s 200. The soundtrack featured the likes of Paramore and Linkin Park. Paramore’s single “Decode” was even nominated for a 2010 Grammy Award.

Now, if you’re feeling sad that Edward Cullen thinks his vampire role was strange, relive those glory days by listening to the two quintessential Twilight songs below.
