Twitter CEO gives users more hope about a possible “edit tweet” feature

Twitter has been teasing forever now that one day, it might just let users edit their tweets. Now, they continue to make us wonder not if, but when.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey joined Joe Rogan’s podcast to further taunt users about the possible ability for them to edit tweets.

“You could build it as such so maybe we introduce a 5-second to 30-second delay in the sending,” Dorsey said. “And within that window, you can edit. This issue with going longer than that is it takes the real-time nature of the conversational flow out of it.”

He also added that they’re looking into a function that allows people to edit but also see the original tweet. However, Dorsey still seemed doubtful that the edit feature would be coming anytime soon.

“When you send a text, you can’t take it back. So when you send a tweet, it goes to the world instantaneously. You can’t take it back,” Dorsey said.

While that makes sense, fixing spelling errors can’t be that deep. Just give us edit already, Twitter.

Last fall, there was hope that the edit feature would actually be coming to us after so many celebrities begged for it.

Makeup mogul Jeffree Star took to his profile to ask for the button, and even got a reply from the social media platform which gave users hope.

“Dear Twitter, we need an edit button on our tweets,” Star writes. “Sincerely, everyone.”

“Dear everyone,” Twitter replies. “Noted.”

Another edit button enthusiasts is Kim Kardashian-West, who even asked Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in person to add the feature.

It seems like everyone is on board for the feature to be added, and it’s just a waiting game now.
