Twitter reportedly rethinking 140-character limit

According to a report from Re/code, Twitter is entertaining the concept of allotting users more than 140 characters per tweet. The company is supposedly formulating a product that will “enable Twitter users to publish long-form content to the service.”

Jason Del Ray, the reporter who ran the story, tweeted the following for additional clarification: “Not saying 140-character limit is kaput. Reporting that Twitter will let users display more content beyond that limit.”

As of now, Twitter has provided no confirmation or denial of the report.

There are currently a handful of web-based applications that allow you to tweet beyond 140 characters, such as Twenth, Tall Tweets and TwitLonger.
