An ‘Umbrella Academy’ actor covered My Chemical Romance before the series premiered

Apparently one Umbrella Academy actor was a fan of My Chemical Romance long before the premier of the Netflix series based on Gerard Way’s comics.

Aidan Gallagher, the 15-year-old actor who plays Number Five  in the series, posted a video of himself covering “Cancer” by MCR back in 2017.

According to the caption, he recorded the cover when the series began shooting in Toronto.

“Starring in this mind blowing action series with me is Ellen Page, Robert Sheehan, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, and Justin H. Min,” the caption reads. “PLEASE RUSH TO A BOOKSTORE AND GO READ THIS AWARD WINNING COMIC BOOK!”

He sings and plays piano in the cover that has brought us to tears because it’s so adorable. You can watch it for yourself below, but be prepared for the tears to flow.

Way recently revealed that he wrote much of The Umbrella Academy while on the road. Additionally, he explained the wholesome concept behind the series.

The series also paid homage to the comic’s writer by including an adorable Easter egg during its first episode.
