It was previously reported that we’d be getting a second season, but Gallagher clarified that at that time, it was not yet officially renewed.
While I have no doubts because I’ve been to the future (it sucks by the way) — no word from Netflix on a 2nd season has been given to anyone yet. When it comes they will make it loud and headline clear to all. https://t.co/sNXD0Ydpdi

Later, David Castañeda, who plays Diego, sat down in an interview to reveal what the future could hold for Number Two if a second season was revealed.
“Diego was very much a guy with a chip on his shoulder but was very oblivious of it because he had one way of thinking,” he says. “And the relationship between every single sibling that Diego had to me was so special.
“[Diego] doesn’t know what else to do. He’s a kid in a man’s body. Diego sees his siblings, and they have these amazing powers, and they’re not using them for the good, or at least what they got programmed to do by Reginald Hargreeves. Diego doesn’t know anything different. It’s not so much of trying to help you because you need to be helped. It’s, ‘I’m going to help you so you see me and give me validation.’”
The Umbrella Academy is the Netflix adaptation of My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way’s comics. Ever since the premiere of season one, everyone’s been pretty much obsessed and dying for a second season. So we’re so happy we finally know that it’s coming.
We’re definitely not the only ones either. See how fans on Twitter reacted to the exciting news.

In other news, Way recently revealed that he wrote much of The Umbrella Academy while on the road. Additionally, he explained the wholesome concept behind the series.
The series also paid homage to the comic’s writer by including an adorable Easter egg during its first episode.
Also, Way recently said that the characters in the series are inspired by the “dysfunctional family dynamic” of the MCR members, which totally made sense to us.
