Underoath disband, to release 'Anthology 1999-2013' album November 6

Christian metalcore mavericks UNDERØATH are disbanding. In a statement issued by Black Lodge, the band’s publicists, the members announced their plans to end the group after 15 years. “It’s sad to say that we feel like it’s time to close this chapter, but we have never seen things more clearly,” vocalist Spencer Chamberlain said in the statement. “These have been the best years of my entire life, and I owe that to every single person who ever supported this band along the way. This wasn’t a quick decision by any means. It’s just time for us to move on.” The Tampa, Florida, group released seven albums—including the gold-certified They're Only Chasing Safety (2004) and Define The Great Line (2006)—and appeared on the cover of AP three times.

In addition to embarking on a farewell tour in 2013 (details to follow next week), the band will also have a retrospective collection, Anthology 1999-2013, released November 6 on Solid State Records. In addition to selected tracks from their body of work, the album will contain two new songs, “Sunburnt” and “Unsound,” recorded with producer Matt Goldman, which will be the last recorded tracks from the band.
