Vans teams up with Culture Abuse, international punk bands for DIY campaign

Vans, the legendary shoe company often identified with punk-rock culture, has launched a new brand campaign, The Spirit Of DIY, which features bands, artists and participants from all over the planet celebrating the community of underground culture. The seven-and-a-half minute film features the exploits of such notables as LA’s Culture Abuse, Brazilian punk-inspired visual artist Revolback, Chinese garage punks the Diders and South Africa’s Skate Society Soweto as they get their collective heads together to create their own culture, away from traditions and personal gain.

“The campaign speaks to a universal idea of creative expression and shows how it’s manifested by Vans family around the world,” Jamie Reilly, Vans VP of Global Creative, shares. “[These artists] all embody the true meaning of do it yourself as they build their own communities and their own scenes. We’re honored to help tell their stories.”
