Vans upgrades shoes with “stacked” platform option

Earlier this week, Vans unleashed a new glitter shoe silhouette based on a vintage model. Now, the skate shoe brand is revealing a new “stacked” platform option.

Van already has a platform style available on their Slip-on, Authentic, Old Skool, Sk8-Hi and Era models for men, women and kids sizing. However, this new Stacked model will only be available for Sk8-Hi and Era models in men and women sizing.

While the existing platforms are mostly white color-based options (and a cool Rainbow Sk8-Hi V Platform), the new Stacked option is more cohesive with the overall shoe.

The Stacked shoe is available in classic and confetti colorway options. Vans describes both types as:

“Stacked takes the classic Vans silhouette to an elevated level. Made with canvas uppers and padded collars for support and flexibility, the Stacked also includes oversized features and layers like platform bumpers, exaggerated outsoles, and translucent foxing tape.”

On the Era, the confetti toe cap option is a fairy wren and sea green combo. It also features black canvas on the vamp, or shoe’s top, and a touch of pink on the heel. Meanwhile, the classic option is white and the classic Vans checkerboard.

The SK8-Hi confetti option is very similar to the Era in that it’s a “fairy wren and sea green” combo with the aforementioned black vamp and pin heel. As for the classic colorway option, the SK8-Hi is a black and checkerboard combo.

More on Vans

In addition to the new Harry Potter and David Bowie collections, Vans has introduced a new silhouette.

The skate shoe just announced that they’ll be releasing a new shoe model based on their vintage 1995 Vans Sid skate silhouette. Now, Vans is unleashing the Sid NI, which will adapt the iconic shoe’s elements by revamping it with glitter.

The new silhouette will come in either a sparkling black or electric blue and feature the iconic platform sole. Additionally, the “Flying-V” logo, signifying the Vans brand, will be embroidered on the side of the shoe.

“The concept behind the Sid NI was to bring a new context to a classic Vans skate silhouette,” Vans Footwear Designer Rafael Mayorga says in a story with HypeBae. “We updated the proportion by adding a platform sole and modernized the vulcanized construction with an UltraCush drop-in sock liner for comfort. By mixing modern proportions with heritage design elements including the exaggerated Flying-V logo we are able to celebrate what made the original Sid so special.”

You can check out the new silhouette below.
