‘WandaVision,’ ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’ release dates revealed

Disney is pulling no punches when it comes to its streaming service Disney+. Only launching in November of 2019, the streaming platform has already racked up 26.5 million paid-subscriptions. Some of the hot ticket items to arrive have been Marvel and the Star Wars franchise with WandaVision and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier coming up.

Now, Disney CEO Bob Iger has officially given soft release dates for those as well as Baby Yoda‘s playground in The Mandalorian

Disney and Marvel Studios gave fans their first look at three original programs during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2. The shows they teased were The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki. The three shows are part of a Disney+ expansion that will see significant, albeit crucial ties to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Near the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers hands-off Captain America’s shield to Sam Wilson, better known as Falcon. The series The Falcon And The Winter will follow Wilson and Bucky “Winter Soldier” Barnes as they navigate a world that Rogers is no longer a part of.

The brief teaser shows Wilson interacting with the adamantium shield. We then get a super brief look at Wilson in a new flight suit and the return of Baron Zemo. One Twitter user breaks it down into simple bullet points with pictures.

WandaVision and Loki were also shown during the Big Game spot. WandaVision follows Wanda Maximoff or Scarlet Witch and her lover Vision. While what we see of the show is incredibly quick, we can gather that the show is going to be pretty crazy. We see many different incarnations of Maximoff including one of her vintage 1960’s Scarlet Witch costume and one as Leave It To Beaver-looking housewife.

The brief Loki scene shows Tom Hiddleston’s Loki sitting in a TVA jumpsuit. TVA stands for Time Variance Authority and is in charge of controlling the timelines in the Marvel Universe, trimming and pruning ones that are too dangerous to exist.

The clip shows Loki smirking while saying “I’m going to burn this place to the ground.”

Now, during an earnings call on Feb. 4, we have more set release dates for these upcoming Marvel shows, as well as one for The Mandalorian. The Falcon And The Winter Soldier is expected in August, WandaVision should release in December. While Loki didn’t quite get a release date, we know it ties in with Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness which has a May 2021 release. Thus, Loki is expected to have a Spring 2021 release.

Iger also said during the call that, “there are seven other Marvel series in various stages of development or pre-production.” We know about the first three, and that Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Hawkeye and What If? have been announced. So that’s eight, meaning that there could be two more Marvel shows on the horizon.

For all of you Star Wars fans, The Mandalorian will be receiving its second season in October. And there’s more good news. Given all of the money and success Star Wars and The Mandalorian are responsible for, Iger said that there is  “the possibility of infusing it [The Mandalorian] with more characters and taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series.”

It only makes sense to expand on the franchise given how massive Baby Yoda has become. The little green alien was the number one search on Google last year and was only introduced in November.
