Warped Tour video series captures 25 years of stories for final farewell

The series will be released throughout 25 days to celebrated the more-than two decades of Warped.

The first episode shows how Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman met up with Steve Van Doren of Vans to get the ball rolling.

“That relationship with Steve went pretty deep that first year,” Lyman said. “Twenty four years later, we’re kind of wrapping things up.”

You can see the first video in the series below.

The second episode dives into the skating culture of punk and alternative rock. It also shows how that translated into the Warped Tour shows.

“If you grew up skateboarding, you wound up listening to punk rock,”  Fletcher of Pennywise said. “Skateboarding was kind of an outlaw sport, cool. Punk rock was about being an individual.”

All good things must come to an end, and Warped Tour is no exception. While we’re still figuring out how to spend our summers, we look back on the stacked sets that headlined everyone’s festival wishlist this year.

The select dates kicked off in Cleveland, OH, fittingly in the shadow of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Lead by acts such as Simple Plan, Hawthorne Heights, We The Kings and Meg & Dia, the tour’s history was honored by the hall with its own exhibit.
