Originally titled Geezer, the film was renamed after a song Armstrong wrote for the film, which also happens to be the last track on Green Day's forthcoming album Revolution Radio. Ordinary World first premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, at which two-thirds of Green Day played a surprise show with Joan Jett, who also makes an appearance in the movie.

In Ordinary World, Armstrong acts alongside Fred Armisen and actress Selma Blair as an aging punk-rocker-turned-family man celebrating his 40th birthday—and mid-life crisis—in a big way, thanks to a party at a fancy hotel.

This is far from Armstrong's first acting gig, however. The Green Day frontman has made appearances in the TV show Nurse Jackie, another appearance in the film This Is 40, a stint in American Idiot on Broadway, and a role in Like Sunday, Like Rain.

Ordinary World will release October 14 under Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group.
