The memorial service celebrating the life of rapper Lil Peep (Gus Ahr) is happening today and streaming live via his YouTube channel. You can stream it below.
Lil Peep's mother, Liza Womack, announced the special memorial service for fans shortly after the artist's untimely death at the age of 21. The service is taking place today in Long Beach, New York, and will feature speakers, followed by a beach gathering in front of the Allegria Hotel. The event is “open to all,” and though it's meant to honor Peep's life and legacy, his family would like any donations to be made to Oxfam, an international charitable organization that focuses on the alleviation of global poverty.
“Due to the overwhelming response and support we have received, we have decided to livestream the celebration of Gus' life on his YouTube channel tomorrow at 3pm EST… For all those who plan to join us in Long Beach, NY, we will be gathering on the beach following the event at the Allegria,” his family shared via his Twitter account.
There has been a flood of support following the original post detailing the service, which you can check out below:
Earlier this week, Lil Peep's team made their first statement following Lil Peep's death. The team addressed official merchandise: “We have been overwhelmed with requests from loving fans hoping to support Gus and his family by purchasing legitimate Peep merchandise,” Lil Peep's team shared. “To ensure authenticity, all official communications about Lil Peep merchandise, music, or any other art forms, will come from Lil Peep's official verified accounts on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.”
The late rapper's death came as a shock, and though presumed an overdose, the musician's brother, Oskar, recently said the death was accidental: “He was super happy with where he was in life.”
AP's thoughts are with Lil Peep's family and loved ones at this time.
