Waterparks opener Yung Pinch apologizes to band’s fans for lyrical content

Over the weekend, Waterparks frontman Awsten Knight took to Twitter to address concerns fans had regarding one of the FANDOM tour’s openers, Yung Pinch.

Now, Yung Pinch has released a statement over the matter, which you can read below.

On Saturday, fans began pointing out a couple of Yung Pinch’s lyrics which included the use of the word “retarded” in his 2017 track “Underdogs.”

More Waterparks fans replied, expressing concern over different tracks.

Awsten Knight responded to the concerns stating that he does not condone the use of such words and was not aware of it prior to booking Yung Pinch for the tour.

“Yikes. I def don’t condone using that word or anything else that’d upset anyone like that & I wasn’t aware when we agreed to the booking.  It’s not as simple as “kick him off” there are contracts in place that aren’t able to simply be backed out of, especially this close to tour. I didn’t hear all his songs before agreeing to the booking and again, I don’t condone the word.”

Last night, Yung Pinch took to Twitter to address the issue with a statement of his own.

“I have love for all people and definitely have nothing against people with disabilities. My use of a lyric offended people and I want to take this opportunity to become more aware and apologize. I’m a work in progress like everyone else, never intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.”
