Waterparks have won the award for Breakthrough Artist, presented by SharpTone Records, at the 2017 Journey’s Alternative Press Music Awards, Fueled By Monster!

“Hey! This is the first time we’ve gotten a thing like this. That’s tight,” Awsten Knight says. “I didn't plan on this happening. My mom called it. Give it up for my mom. Mindfreak! Thank you to our parents and the Maddens and to Ciara for making me write songs. Thanks to Geoff and Otto for dressing up as bushes with me. And to all of you guys! Thanks!”

After a fan vote, Waterparks won against fellow nominees Avatar, Creeper, Ice Nine Kills, Moose Blood and ONE OK ROCK.

Things have been pretty good for this energetic pop-punk trio from Houston, Texas, whose killer debut album and extensive touring regimen have garnered them three APMAs nominations this year.
