Weezer use 'Fortnite' to premiere 'The Black Album'

In what one can only call true Weezer fashion, the band have used the game Fortnite to premiere their brand-new, self-titled album on the game’s new island – Weezer World.

No, we’re not making this up.

The band’s self-titled, thirteenth studio album (also known as The Black Album) is set to be released on March 1.

That didn’t stop the band from using the viral video game to give fans a sneak peek of the album before it officially drops at midnight.

As part of the game’s eighth season, a “Weezer World” popped up in the universe of Fortnite. Players are allowed to explore this new island all while listening to four songs from the album before they’ve been released.

Weezer team up with ‘Stranger Things’…

Weezer released a super meta video for their cover of a-ha’s “Take On Me” and it stars Calpurnia.

Calpurnia, fronted by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, takes it back to the ‘80s with this video. Wolfhard even sports a crazy mullet that was definitely popular way before his time.

The song comes from Weezer’s most recently release, The Teal Albumwhich is comprised solely of cover songs.

The “Take On Me” video shows the whole Calpurnia crew rocking out at a throwback jam sesh in Wolfhard’s living room. To give us even more ‘80s vibes, there are doodled animations of the band throughout. Check out the video below.
